Community Profiles: Buffalo River Dene Nation
     The Buffalo River Dene Nation is a vibrant community on the shores of Peter Pond Lake consisting of approximately 1087 members.  Located adjacent to the northern Saskatchewan town of Dillon, this Dene Nation’s chief and five councilors continue to focus on community development with administration remaining one of the key sources of employment.   The culture is thriving through the traditional trapping and hunting pursuits of both community elders and other members of Buffalo River.  With a broad land base and various potential ventures on the horizon, Buffalo River has looked to expand its economic sector.  The natural resource assets of Buffalo River have greatly contributed to the community’s economic base in the forms of hunting, fishing, trapping and forestry.
