Production at Ceres-MLTC Fertilizers continues to meet challenges head-on and build on its yearly volumes. With two Saskatchewan uranium mines as a source of ammonium sulphate fertilizer, Ceres manages their steady fertilizer supply according to market trends. This has been a particular challenge in light of recent agriculture hardships causing a reduction of fertilizer usage.
Fertilizer sales will be a key factor for this business as Cameco is developing a new uranium ore mine, which will produce even larger volumes of fertilizer by-product. Ceres handles approximately 19000 tons of fertilizer by-product each year. With production from a new mine this volume will significantly increase.
Responsible management has seen Ceres attain its annual trend of slow-but-steady growth. The success of past years has inspired Ceres to develop value-added processing or even begin exploration of new markets beyond fertilizer production.
  • Ammonium sulphate (AmSul) crystals are a by-product of uranium ore mining that can be used as bulk fertilizer
  • The Ceres Fertilizer plant is located near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
  • In addition to bulk fertilizer, Ceres markets other products:
Saltec is a bagged livestock grade salt product.
Certec is a bagged fertilizer product geared towards the lawn and turf market.
