The Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) is seeking a Primary Care Nursing Supervisor to provide support to nurses working in the expanded role and assist the Meadow Lake First Nations in planning and coordination of nursing services for primary care locations.

This is a full-time position with the Meadow Lake Tribal Council. The majority of the work takes place in the Meadow Lake First Nations offering primary care nursing services, and at MLTC, with some travel to Prince Albert and Saskatoon.

The position requires an individual with a sound clinical knowledge base and the ability to apply creative and critical thinking in planning and problem solving. The Primary Care Nursing Supervisor will be expected to promote best practices, function independently and contribute to community and MLTC health teams. Well-developed interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to primary health care and community development is essential.

To qualify, the candidate must be a registered nurse with a certificate in outpost or primary care nursing or be a licensed nurse practitioner. The ideal candidate will have experience in First Nations, a background in acute care or rural hospital nursing, a minimum of five years of primary care experience and demonstrated supervisory skills. Fluency in the Cree or Dene language is an asset.

Mistahey Musqua Treatment Centre

Day Counsellor

 

MLTC Health & Social Development is now accepting applications for a Counselor for Mistahey Musqua Treatment Centre. The philosophy of the Mistahey Musqua Treatment Centre is to promote a healthy addition free lifestyle and to enhance the well being of our First Nation communities by providing holisitic (physical, emotional, mental & spiritual) counseling services in the area of prevention, treatment and aftercare. The Day Counselor is responsible for the care of in-patient clients in the Treatment Centre during his / her shift.

Qualifications:

  • Must lead a life of sobriety and one free of addictions.

  • A Chemical Dependency course or equivalent certified course.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the links between alcohol treatment and health issues within the community level.

  • Ability to work as a team member.

  • Experience with a treatment centre counseling program.

  • Knowledge of First Nations culture and values.

  • Ability to speak Cree or Dene would be an asset.

  • Must have a valid drivers license.

  • Must have CPR & First Aid Training.

  • Satisfactory Security Clearance.

Duties:

  • Ensure proper care clients.

  • Ensures continuity of information between shifts and staff.

  • Ensures the client’s safety and security of the building.

  • Ensures all the Treatment Centre guidelines and regulation are being met.

  • Assisting the daily upkeep and maintenance of the buildings and grounds.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • Providing one to one counselling to clients

  • Doing group lectures and discussions.

  • Documenting all counselling sessions.

  • Recording appropriate information on clients’ file.

  • Developing safe plans, follow-up and after care.

MLTC Health and Social Development - HEALTH PROMOTION COORDINATOR Reporting to the Assistant Director of Health and Social Development, the Health Promotion Coordinator is part of the health care team and is responsible for assessing the health promotion needs of the MLFNs, and developing, coordinating, planning, implementing and evaluating programs. This position will utilize the strategies of population health promotion and disease prevention.

Duties and responsibilities

  • A main focus of this position will be providing support, advice to the MLFNs CHR/Health Promotion workers to achieve best practices in health promotion.
  • The primary function of the Health Promotion Coordinator is to provide leadership in the development, design, implementation, coordination and evaluation of health promotion activities.
  • Researches and evaluates existing health promotion and education programs that could better used to meet the needs of the communities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalaureate Degree in a Health-related discipline (e.g. nursing, social work, OT, etc), and/or
  • A Masters or Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university program in health education or social science field.
  • 3 – 5 years work experience in community health promotion and education or directly related experience.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the appropriate professional association.
  • Experience working in a cross cultural environment would be an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Self-sufficient in using computer applications (Work, PowerPoint, Excel)

Ability to travel and work field hours to meet client and essential program needs

· Skill in program planning and evaluation

· Skill in using the group process to achieve program objectives

· Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as a team member

    Other:

    Must possess a valid driver’s license

    Provide RCMP Clearance Check

MISTAHEY MUSQUA TREATMENT CENTRE

Receptionist / Secretary

Meadow Lake Tribal Council is recruiting for a highly motivated individual to provide administrative support to the treatment centre located on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant business secretarial training, but applicants with relevant combinations of training and work experience will be considered.

General Administrative Duties:

  • Telephone switchboard operation
  • Typing, Filing, Incoming & outgoing mail, e-mail, faxes, etc.
  • Computer Operations
  • Minutes of meetings and follow up
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate /Diploma from a recognized institute and / or several years related work experience in administration.
  • Proficiency and experience in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, ie, word, excel, access, outlook.
  • Excellent public relationship skills
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable of work ethics.
  • Knowledgeable of office procedures.
