Community Profiles: Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation
     Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is a very strong community in the area of tradition and culture, hosting numerous annual events and cultural activities as well as maintaining the active use of the Cree language by several of its band members. The community has numerous facilities available to its 1200 members, including the band administration office, a health clinic, a water treatment plant, a fire hall, a recreation complex and a school. The forestry and tourism sectors are very important aspects of Makwa’s economic development with business ventures such as logging and operating the Makwa Lake Resort, one of the oldest First Nations businesses in Saskatchewan. Makwa Sahgaiehcan is a tightly knit community dedicated to improving the quality of life for its members.
