	The Technical Services sector of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council coordinates the operation and maintenance of Meadow Lake First Nations municipal properties and water systems. The focus of the program is to build the capacity of trained and certified individuals to manage housing maintenance and municipal water processing systems in their own community.      Several training sessions for community-based workers and are continually being coordinated and developed by Technical Services with the cooperation of organizations such as Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology, SaskWater, and the North West Post Secondary Center. These workshops include municipal and housing related topics such as sewage lift station pump maintenance, fire hydrant maintenance and assembly, and residential furnace maintenance.      Technical Services also offers support with capital and housing projects that are undertaken by each First Nation community. Capital projects include the construction or upgrade of municipal facilities. Technical Services provides support services to the Meadow Lake First Nations for all capital projects from beginning design through to the end of construction and commissioning, start-up and training. To address the issue of safe and adequate housing technical services enlists the help of the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation, which had previously managed many of the responsibilities this program now maintains. Technical Services coordinates with the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation as well as assisting with project applications where required.      Housing projects include renovations, new home construction, and regular inspections. The program’s two compliance inspectors, licensed with the Saskatchewan Building Officials Association, perform ongoing inspections for First Nations housing in order to maintain safe housing conditions for new and existing homes. Technical services continues to keep Meadow Lake First Nations municipal and housing workers informed of current developments so that they can efficiently manage their own maintenance, housing construction, service operation and capital project implementation.
